Article (Dec. 2007) in the Tacoma News Tribune: www.thenewstribune.com Officers at the Port of Tacoma didn't understand the rights of photographers or journalists. A group of six officers accosted me while I began filming the Port of Tacoma for coverage of the Stryker Brigade Protests in March of 2007. I did not cross any barricades to reach the point I was at in the video. I had parked in a public parking lot and walked toward the gate where I began setting my video camera up. Several officers were standing at a gate seventy meters away: one officer told me that I needed to cross to the 'other side' of a barricade (and then another told me 'the other side of the light') which was further down the street in the opposite direction from the parking lot. So this had confused me, and I was not allowed to explain where I was coming from, nor allowed to get back to my vehicle. Komo 4 and/or King 5, mobile television news networks with crew vans, were standing near or in the exact same location earlier. But seeing that I was not a member of the professional media class, the police decided to arrest me, and then they detained me for an hour in the back of a squad car. I was not read the Miranda rights, nor shown respect for any of the rights pertaining to a free and open press. Il nuovo stadio della Juventus nasce da un grande lavoro di squadra. commerciale e dellinserimento urbanistico. Il Progetto Stadio era stato approvato in via definitiva e rampe che seguono il profilo delle collinette verdi sulle quali sorge limpianto e portano a un anello che gira intorno allo stadio. Lanello sarà un luogo sicuro, dove potranno venire controllati i titoli di ingresso e dove potranno sostare i mezzi di servizio e di soccorso. Alle gradinate e alle tribune si accederà da 16 passerelle distribuite nei diversi settori sospesi sugli spazi che costituivano il vecchio stadio. Al termine degli eventi, in caso di emergenza, limpianto si potrà svuotare in meno di 4 minuti. Il progetto prevede di recuperare tutta la parte interrata del Delle Alpi, compresa la zona del campo di gioco. Al di sotto delle gradinate verranno realizzate le aree di servizio allo stadio e alla squadra. Nella parte superiore, con un profilo di grande leggerezza ed essenzialità proprio del rigore stilistico che ha a sempre contraddistinto il club sorgerà lo stadio, con le gradinate ei palchi: il tutto è inserito in un unico profilo a semicerchio e senza elementi che si distaccano dalla linea di continuità. Het vuur woedde op de tribune in de hoek tussen de eretribune en westzijde van het stadion waar ook eetcafé De Verlenging is gevestigd. Fire in PSV stadion. The fire arose during welding activities in the cam of the stadion. Fire raged on the platform in the angle between the honorary platform and West side of the stadion in the area of stadium restaurant.

Muita gente conhece o discurso musicado "O Filtro Solar", na voz de Pedro Bial, lançado no Brasil no último programa Fantástico de 2003, pela Rede Globo de televisão. Mas o que pouca gente sabe é que a origem desse texto remete ao jornal americano Chicago Tribune, em uma crônica de autoria da colunista Mary Schmich, publicada em 1º de junho de 1997 e originalmente entitulada "Advice, like youth, probably just wasted on the young" [Conselhos, assim como juventude, provavelmente desperdiçados pelos jovens]. A crônica inocente se espalhou pela Internet e pelo mundo, gerou até boatos e confusões, e ainda em 1997 acabou ganhando uma versão musical na Austrália através do diretor de cinema Baz Luhrmann, que estava preparando um álbum de coletânea com reinterpretações de músicas de seus filmes e produções de palco. Com as palavras da crônica lidas na voz do ator Lee Perry ao som de uma batida suave, o trabalho gerou a inspiradora trilha musical entitulada "Everybody's Free (To Wear Sunscreen)" [Todos São Livres (Para Usar Filtro Solar)] naquele álbum. Em 1999, uma adaptação da faixa, editada de 7 para 5 minutos, se espalhou pelas rádios dos Estados Unidos e se tornou um grande sucesso. Go Skateboarding Day 2007 Tampa - Update: what got me to grab the camera was this notice going around: "Subject: Closing of the Gate - Thursday at 11 am - 1pm Good Morning Everyone, Today is an "unorganized" skateboard convention. About 400 skateboarders are planning to come through downtown and skate through and around the buildings. Last year they did quite a lot of damage to Bank of America building. We will be working with Tampa Police to keep them out of our atrium area. During the hours of 11 am -- 1 pm the gate outside of my office will be brought down. I apologize for any inconvenience this may cause any of you." Which was a reaction to the earlier notice from the PD to the Downtown Partnership. "The Partnership has been notified by the Tampa Police Department (TPD) that tomorrow (6/21) is "National Go Skateboarding Day" and a rogue race is being planned for downtown at approximately noon time starting at the skate-bowl located at Perry Harvey Park to the building on the south west corner of Ashley and Kennedy where unknown sponsors are offering a $500 prize to the first person that can successfully ride the hand rail at that location. An Alabama woman was arrested in April 2009 accused of injuring a child while dragging it through a store in Rome. According to Floyd County Jail records: Melissa Catherine Smith-Means, 37, of Gaylesville, Ala., was arrested by Rome police around 12:30 pm She was charged with felony first-degree cruelty to children. Police say she was observed by customers and employees at a store on Broad Street, dragging a small child around by a backpack leash. The child had visible marks on the neck from the incident. Four police officers in Oakland, California, were gunned down on Saturday 21 March 2009 during a routine traffic stop on macarthur Boulevard. The police said Lovelle Mixon (27) was pulled over by two motorcycle officers at 1:15 pm Saturday. # He shot the two motorcycle officers and then fled the scene, leaving the officers to die in pools of their own blood. A manhunt ensued through the streets of the East Oakland section of the city. Police tracked down the gunman to an apartment building a block away. When SWAT team burst into the barricaded apartment, Mixon shot two of the SWAT officers with an assault rifle, killing them both, before he was shot dead by the police. The two officers who were shot at the scene of the traffic stop were identified as Sgt. Mark Dunakin, 40, and Officer John Hege, 41. On Sunday, an Oakland police spokesman announced the death of Mr. Hege, who had been listed in grave condition at Highland Hospital the previous night. Begum Parveen Sultana ranks today as one of the foremost classical vocalists in India. A child prodigy, she was the youngest artist to receive the Padmashri award, in 1972, from the Government of India. She received her early training from her father Ikramul Majid and her grandfather Mohammed Najeef Khan. Both were ardent music lovers and their nurturing of her talent at an early age enabled her to give her first recital at the tender age of twelve and from then on, there has been no looking back! Her father then put her under the guidance of renowned maestro Acharya Chinmoy Lahiri of Calcutta. Parveen Sultana subsequently found the Guru who further laid down a much deeper foundation that gave a new dimension to her singing, giving it the required mastery of ragas and voice culture that would expand her range to three and a half octaves, Ustad Dilshad Khan, her Guru and husband. Parveen Sultana was trained according to the Patiala Gharana (School of Music), but with Ustadji's guidance the essence of other Gharanas flowed into her music. She handles, with utter ease, a simple raga as well as a complicated one, moving from the slow Alaap to the swift Taans and Bol Taans, her immense confidence highlighting the most beautiful essence of the raga. In 1894, Edgar Daniel Boone endeavored to pit one of his less manageable Lions, Parnell, in contest against a Bear named Siskiyou at the San Francisco Midwinter Fair, but when Society for the Preventions of Cruelty to Animals realized his plot, they threatened Boone with legal action, and took possession of his arena. The original fight was canceled. (Salem Daily News, April 16, 1984. The Fight Prevented. Fresno Bee, April 29, 1894.) In 1895, Boone took his violent aspiration to Mexico, and hosted one of the most elaborate and well documented animal battles of his time.
